Replacing your boiler can be a challenge. And it’s not difficult to see why many homeowners get lost in a minefield of possibility.

The crucial part is to do plenty of research and find the facts before you make your decision.

Moreover, it’s always wise to get a minimum of 3 quotes from Gas Safe Registered companies once you have an idea of what you’re looking for.

Of course, your budget is going to influence which direction you choose. But remember: accepting a quote based purely on price isn’t always the right thing to do.

Many other factors play a part in your decision. The quality of the product. The ‘extras’ it may come with. The reputation of the company you choose to install it. And, not forgetting, the aftercare you’ll receive should anything be amiss.

So what are our 7 reasons to choose a Vaillant boiler?

SDB installs many of the top brands of boiler, including Worcester Bosch, Ariston, Glow worm and, indeed, Vaillant. And each of these manufacturers have boilers in their range that we would highly recommend.

So what is it about Vaillant, in particular, that makes them more preferable? What are the main reasons to choose a Vaillant boiler as your ideal replacement boiler?

Let’s take a look…

1. Vaillant UK is 5-star rated on Trustpilot

Actually, Vaillant is rated 4.6 out of 5. But if you round it up and consider that they have more than 10,000 reviews, we think it’s fair to say that they’re 5-star rated.

The important thing to remember here is that reviews come directly from the people like you – the customer.

When you look a little closer, almost 80% of those 10,000+ reviews are 5-star reviews. And considering us Brits are apparently more reserved and not so forthcoming with positive feedback, there must be something worth shouting about.

The quality and reliability of a Vaillant boiler and the great after sale care are major factors in customers clicking the 5-star button.

2. Vaillant offer a 10 year guarantee on selected models

That’s not a typo! Selected Vaillant boilers really do come with a 10 year guarantee.

Boilers aren’t cheap – that’s why, here at SDB, we always recommend planning for a boiler replacement as opposed to waiting until it lets you down – so you need to be sure that you’re spending your money wisely.

Now consider this:

A boiler is expected to have a 15 year lifespan. That’s the average, some last much longer than that.

So now imagine having the reassurance that a Vaillant boiler is GUARANTEED for two thirds of its estimated lifespan.

Repair costs can be astronomical at the best of times. But if your boiler was to break down in Winter at the peak of the colder weather, you’d face a double whammy.

Hence, a 10 year guarantee provides the additional peace of mind you’re looking for. And it’s one of the foremost reasons to choose a Vaillant boiler.

So what’s the catch?

Well, there isn’t one. But there are stipulations.

Firstly, your new boiler needs to be installed with a Vaillant Boiler Protection Kit. This is a central heating filter, made specifically for Vaillant boilers, which keeps the heating side of your system dirt-free by collecting the magnetite (the black stuff in central heating systems, caused by corrosion, that can block water ways).

The guarantee also needs to be registered by a Vaillant Advance installer. A Vaillant Advance installer is Gas Safe Registered, and has been personally observed and certified by a Vaillant expert.

In case you’re wondering, SDB is a Vaillant Advance installer.

The 10 year guarantee is currently available on the ecoTEC exclusive with Green iQ and the ecoTEC plus range of boilers.

Even more noteworthy, is the fact that Vaillant is a German company. Although the boilers are manufactured in the UK (and, therefore, parts are easy to come by) they can still boast German design and engineering.

Further peace of mind if it is needed.

3. Calls to the service department are answered in 20 seconds (on average)

Good to know and certainly reassuring.

But why is it part of out top 7 reasons to choose a Vaillant boiler?

Well, there’s something else worth bearing in mind here:

For homeowners, the call centre helpline is open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

However, if your boiler has been installed by a Vaillant Advance installer, like SDB, the call centre helpline is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 7:00pm; Saturday, 8:00am to 3:00pm; and Sunday, 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Even better.

Now. What about the boilers themselves?

4. Vaillant boilers have Quiet Mark™ accreditation

Quiet Mark™ is run by the Noise Abatement Society (NAS). It encourages companies worldwide to prioritise noise reduction within the design of everyday machines and appliances.

Vaillant are one of only 3 boiler manufacturers to be awarded the Quiet Mark™ (Glow-worm and Ideal Logic are the other two).

Believe it or not, noise pollution is second only to air pollution as the world’s largest killer pollutant. So while it might not seem like the noise in your home can lead to stress, the two have been linked. And at the very least, noisy appliances can be somewhat annoying.

You won’t have that problem with a Vaillant boiler that has been awarded the Quiet Mark™.

Jess Ellmore, Vaillant Area Sales Manager, Stoke on Trent

“With Vaillant being a market leading boiler manufacturer, I am delighted to be working closely with installers like SDB Plumbing & Heating to offer great support and service for our products when needed.

We pride ourselves on our premium quality components. And our Quiet Mark™ accreditation ensures our boilers are among the quietest on the market and designed for a peaceful home environment.

We are confident in the longevity of our boilers, but also happy to say that our back-up service is available 364 days a year with engineers all over the UK. Manufacturing in the UK means our engineers understand our products and spares are readily available”.

5. Vaillant means high efficiency and low running costs

There are plenty of boilers on the market that modulate (reduce their output). Vaillant, however, have models that can reduce their heat output to as low as 16% of the maximum output, making them one of the most efficient manufacturers.

Let’s say, for arguments sake, that you have seven radiators in your home.

If you decide to turn off one of those radiators because you no longer need to heat a particular part of your property, your Vaillant boiler will reduce its heat output accordingly to ensure that it operates at its highest efficiency.

German engineering, indeed.

6. With boilers up to 43kw, Vaillant offers the highest ever water flow rate

Flow rates from Vaillant boilers has always been great.

But now, on their combi boiler range, they have models with higher output ranges and, thus, higher hot water flow rates. Increased flow rates of up to 17.8 litres per minute can now be achieved on Vaillant’s ecoTEC Exclusive range.

So, if you have a larger home and your hot water demand is usually met using a cylinder, Vaillant now offer an alternative.

The ecoTEC Plus combination boiler, for example, can deliver a whopping 20 litres of hot water to your tap within 5 seconds.

Hence, your cylinder is no longer required.

Of course, you would need to ensure that your incoming water supply can deliver such water flow rates from the start.

If not, don’t despair. SDB can help.

7. Vaillant boilers have multiple flue options (including a rear flue)

All leading manufactures tend to offer horizontal and vertical flue options for boiler installs:

  • Horizontal flues – sometimes referred to as standard flues, run from the top of the boiler through to the outside wall (usually determined by your boiler’s location).
  • Vertical flues – leave the top of the boiler and generally go straight up through the roof. Hence, your boiler doesn’t necessarily have to be installed on an outside wall.

In some instances – such as when a boiler is installed inside a kitchen cupboard – a horizontal flue is not an option because space is restricted.

But Vaillant have a solution.

Their ecoFIT Pure boilers, with their compact design, offer a rear flue option. This allows the flue to leave the back of the boiler instead of the top.

Perfect for tight spaces.

3-step guide to getting boiler replacement quotes

  1. Make sure you understand what system you have now and what you would like to upgrade to. A like-for-like swap will usually cost less than if you’re changing the type of boiler (for example, if you’re going from heat only to combi boiler).
  2. Your installer should give you an honest opinion. If you’re not sure you have the right information, we can help.
  3. Make sure that your 3 quotes are comparable. You’re no doubt aware that not every boiler is of the same standard. The cheapest quote and the most expensive quote need to meet the same level of service and expectation.
