EMERGENCY COMBI BOILER REPLACEMENT
When the temperature drops and your heating fails, you need your plumber to act fast. Having already turned to SDB for their heating needs, this client knew they could trust us in an emergency. Here’s what we decided on…
The Glow-worm Ultimate 30C
Glow-worm have long been among the leading, most trusted brands in the boiler world. The Ultimate 30C A-rated combi boiler provides outstanding performance without the need for a tank or cylinder. With a hot water output of 30.6kw and a flow rate of 12.5 litres per minute it’s suitable for a range of homes and needs.
Boiler not working? Don’t presume it’s broken
If your boiler isn’t functioning the way it should, don’t panic. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to call for help. There are a few things you can try beforehand.
First check the gas itself is working. Test other gas appliances to see if they work properly. If you have an older boiler, check to see if the pilot light is on.
Next have a look at the pressure gauge. If it reads 1.0 bar or less, the pressure may need topping up. Your instruction manual will show you how to repressurise your boiler.
Do you have a room thermostat? If so, check what temperature it’s set to. If it’s 21º or below, turn it up. Your boiler might kick in again to achieve a higher room temperature.
If you’ve had a power cut your boiler’s timer might be wrong. Check to see that the time doesn’t need resetting.
If you’ve checked all these things without resolution, you could try resetting the boiler itself. Again, consult your manual on how to do this.
From breakdown to fix up
Following a major component failure on the client’s existing boiler, it needed to be either repaired or replaced urgently. With the cost of repair proving uneconomical, the client opted instead for a boiler replacement.
As an existing customer, the client knew they could turn to SDB in an emergency.
They also trust our judgement when it comes to choosing the right boiler.
To that end, we advised replacing the boiler with a Glow-worm Ultimate 3oC. And as registered Glow-worm installers, we could provide them with the 10 year warranty for that extra peace of mind.
This specifications of this particular boiler work well with the client’s requirements and expectations. And because Glow-worm are renown for providing excellence at very reasonable prices, it also works well with their budget.
As this was an emergency, we responded quickly. We attended within a couple of days and installed the new combi boiler inside a day. The new heating system was fitted with a magnetic heating filter and flushed through using chemicals.
Job done.
