SDB Plumbing & Heating began as a family-run business, back in 2014, with the aim of delivering an excellent service while maintaining a transparent approach. And those principles prevail – driven by passion and ambition.

SAM BALLDirector (The Gaffer)

Sam founded SDB back in 2014 with a determination to build a business that has a different approach to plumbing and heating. A company that listens to what the customer wants and remains transparent throughout.

He’s been in the industry since 2007 and is fully qualified in all aspects of domestic and commercial plumbing and heating services. He loves to expand on his already extensive knowledge of the trade – thus, his qualifications are always up-to-date. Sam ensures that SDB delivers both quality and expertise.

STEVE HARBOROWGas Engineer Extraordinaire

Steve has been in the industry for more than 40 years. He knows everything there is to know about plumbing and heating. Throughout his career, he’s worked with domestic and industrial gas appliances, and he’s also fully conversant with air conditioning. In his younger years, Steve even worked as an electrician.

In his spare time Steve enjoys camping and caravanning, and being in the great outdoors. He also likes to play guitar…to anyone that will listen! Together with his Wife, he loves spending time with the grandchildren.

MATT SMITHUnderfloor Heating Expert

Matt is our underfloor heating whiz. He has bags of experience and has worked on a host of high-end projects, which often involve designing and installing bespoke underfloor heating systems for clients – both domestically and commercially. He’s also a master at bathroom installation and all round plumbing and heating.

On a personal level, Matt is a big lover of marine fish and the huge tank he has at home is his pride and joy… except, of course, for his three lovely children who also keep him fully occupied (and entertained!).

KAREN BALLHead of Smooth Operations

Karen is very much the unsung hero of the company. She makes everything at SDB run smoothly, and with an extraordinary degree of care and attention. Karen is the one who will answer your call, book your appointment, and then organise our diaries to make sure we turn up when we say we will.

The wizardry also continues outside of work as Karen is a huge Harry Potter fan – more than that, in fact, she’s a Gryffindor! She also has quite an artistic flare and loves to draw. Her other big passion is spending time with her granddaughter, Nell.

DAVE BALLHead of Purchasing

Dave has worked in the plumbing and heating industry for more than 30 years. He is an absolute master at obtaining the very best product at the very best price. His comprehensive knowledge of all the top brands means that SDB can effectively purchase the right product for your home or work.

In his spare time, Dave likes to keep Sam in check (he is his Dad, after all!) and holiday with his partner, Kerry. He’s also a keen photographer (well, he’s got a nice camera anyway) and a massive Manchester United fan, having followed them from a young age.

CHRIS IWANCZElectrical Marvel

Chris has vast experience in the electrical industry and has worked on a multitude of installations – both domestic and commercial. As you would expect, he is an NICEIC Approved Electrician and an expert in his field. With Chris as part of the team, SDB can provide full kitchen and bathroom installations.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys fine dining and annual trips to America with his Wife and Daughter. He also has a slight compulsion to buy the latest tool or gadget! Thus, he’s a bad influence on Sam who also loves his gadgets.

We have two private day nurseries that have required lots of plumbing and gas work over the last several years as part of an ongoing update. Our latest projects were two bathroom replacements.
